1. Coverage (indicative): as a finishing aid about 12–25 m²/kg, depending on application. As a liquid hardener / curing aid in two passes: about 10–15 m²/kg, then about 15–20 m²/kg.
2. Apply with a mist sprayer, for example a motorised backpack sprayer, for even dosing, or via the water tanks of a ride-on double trowel.
3. As a water replacement: spray decoSLABSAVER before, during or after each finishing stage where you would otherwise sprinkle water — also before dry-shake when the surface looks too dry for good bond. Work in immediately.
4. Test at the start of disk floating and again at the start of finish-blade work to set dose and technique. The finisher decides when extra product is needed.
5. As a liquid hardener / curing aid, apply in two passes and work in immediately each time: first before disk floating at about 10–15 m²/kg, then before finish-blade troweling at about 15–20 m²/kg. If you use a dry-shake, apply the second pass before broadcasting the shake.
6. Used this way, decoSLABSAVER also retards surface set, giving extra working time with each application.
7. Best results when used consistently for the whole pour.

When do I use decoSLABSAVER?

decoSLABSAVER is used in five typical situations:

1. As a finishing aid in every situation where a finisher would normally use water on the surface.
2. As a true slab saver when the concrete sets very unevenly, or when problems with the concrete supply cause hard cold joints.
3. In hot weather: spray the whole floor for better bond of the dry-shake layer and more time for finishing.
4. Over the whole surface, to harden and densify the top layer and achieve a nicer, glossier finish.
5. To let you start polishing or grinding sooner: at average temperatures around 20 °C, this is possible after 14 days.

Can I use it with a dry-shake hardener?

Yes. It is an excellent wetting agent for dry-shake hardeners and makes a shake that lacks water from the concrete below workable again.

Do I still need to cure the floor?

Yes. We recommend covering the floor with plastic sheeting for at least 7 days, starting right after final troweling. For an even more wear-resistant surface, we also recommend treating the floor with decoSIL CH after troweling.

How much extra working time does it give?

That depends on the amount used and the number of applications. Each separate application gives you extra time to finish.

Why not just add water?

Water on the surface weakens the top layer and causes crazing cracks. decoSLABSAVER keeps the moisture in the top layer and makes the surface harder and more abrasion resistant.
