1. Pinholes show up after grinding and polishing up to grit #100. That is why you apply decoPINFIX before the polishing step with grit #200. The concrete must be at least 21 days old.
2. First repair larger holes, cracks and patches: small holes and cracks (about 1–5 mm) with decoGROUT, large holes and wide cracks (about 5–25 mm) with decoFIX.
3. Make sure the surface is free of dirt, stains, grease, paint, loose particles and anything else that could prevent decoPINFIX from bonding to the surface.
4. Bring the concrete to saturated surface dry (SSD): if it is too dry, wet the surface and wait until it is dry again before you apply decoPINFIX.
5. Always make a test area before starting the job, to check coverage, appearance and variations in the surface.
6. Spray decoPINFIX evenly onto the surface at about 1 kg per 7–15 m². Work at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C.
7. Immediately afterwards, broadcast a fine layer of cement at about 3 kg per 10 m².
8. Use a heavy polishing machine with #200 resin pads to mix both components with the grinding dust from the floor into a paste, and push the paste into the pinholes. If the paste is too stiff, spray a little more decoPINFIX; if it is too wet, use less. At +30 °C the mix stays workable for about 30 minutes.
9. Curing: keep the repaired floor moist for at least 12–24 hours. Best practice is to spray it with water a few hours after application and then cover it with plastic and/or wet jute.
10. Continue polishing after 12–24 hours, depending on temperature.
11. Protect adjacent surfaces and wipe off overspray quickly with a damp cloth and soap. Clean tools with soap and water; do not pour product into sewers or storm drains.

What are pinholes, and when do I use decoPINFIX?

Pinholes are small air inclusions in the concrete that open up at the surface after grinding and polishing up to grit #100. decoPINFIX fills them, together with hairline cracks, during the polishing process. The best moment is just before the polishing step with grit #200.

Which Deco Crete repair product do I use for which damage?

It depends on the size of the hole or crack:

1. Pinholes and micro-cracks smaller than 1 mm: decoPINFIX, during polishing.
2. Small holes and cracks of about 1–5 mm: decoGROUT.
3. Large holes and wide cracks of about 5–25 mm: decoFIX.

Always repair larger holes and patches first, before you apply decoPINFIX.

How much decoPINFIX do I need?

About 1 kg per 7–15 m², depending on the porosity of the surface and the site conditions. You broadcast cement at about 3 kg per 10 m². Always make a test area first to determine the right dosage and technique.

Can I use decoPINFIX on young concrete?

No. The concrete must be at least 21 days old. Before application, the surface must also be clean and saturated surface dry (SSD).

What does SSD (saturated surface dry) mean?

SSD means that the concrete is saturated with water, but the surface itself is dry: there is no standing water and no wet shine. The surface looks matt and slightly damp. This way the concrete does not draw the liquid out of the filler paste. If the floor is too dry, wet the surface with water and wait until it has dried again before you apply decoPINFIX.

When can I continue polishing?

Keep the repaired floor moist for at least 12–24 hours, for example by spraying it with water a few hours after application and covering it with plastic and/or wet jute. Depending on temperature, you can continue polishing after 12–24 hours.

What safety measures should I take?

decoPINFIX is for professional use. It contains alkaline components that can irritate eyes and skin, so wear gloves, eye protection and protective clothing. If it gets in your eyes, rinse with water and consult a doctor if irritation persists. Surfaces can be slippery while wet with the product. Protect the product from frost and stir before use.
